Three Words
How's your spirit doing today?
I have the opportunity every other week to join The Friendship Bench, people from all over the world sitting down together for an hour+ to wrestle with a topic. These can be universal or relevant to something emerging in our world, everything from listening more effectively to contentment in troubled times. It’s a free community of shared understanding.
Recently we have been digging a bit deeper and tackling thornier stuff. That move came once we realized that the Bench had become a place of great candor, great courage, and great insight. No topic we can’t help each other understand.
Last week, we began with this exercise before we engaged in a conversation about taking as opposed to taking care. Here is a word cloud of the initial prompt and the responses:
Nothing we experienced in the exercise suggested we didn’t all need to have this open and visible in front of us. It was a transformational conversation, a mix of discomfort and clarity, all of us feeling closer and more at ease with safely dropping our shields and sharing our truths.
Please take a couple of minutes to generate your own ‘three-word poem about the condition of your spirit in today’s world.’ Share the exercise with some people you love and share the word cloud with them as well. Talk and listen.
I would appreciate hearing about that experience—post your story in the comments box, if you will. This is an ongoing discovery exercise and your story can help others understand and feel understood.
Please click on The Friendship Bench to find out a bit about its amazing history, how we honor it here, and how you can join to show up, listen, and to be heard. It’s free, no strings attached, no click bait or solicitation, no dogma, very simply good. I’d love to meet you there.
Thanks,
Mac

HI, Shara.
we've turned a couple of corners since we last heard you live. Tackling more challenging topics and realizing the group needs candor and courage more than ever. I think we're up to it !
Take good care of your precious self.
Mac
I'm looking forward to revisiting the Bench very soon!
